Center for Teacher Education Research of Beijing Normal University, Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences for Universities, Ministry of Education (Institute of Teacher Education Research, Faculty of Education, Beijing Normal University) was established in November 2004 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It is the only national key research institute engaged in teacher education research. Teacher education is a national undertaking, an academic field and a practical endeavor. As a national key research institute, CTER takes the major responsibilities for talent cultivation, academic research, policy consultation and practice exploration.

 

CTER has always upheld the values and mission of Inspiring Teachers with Integrity and Vision, and is committed to exploring the frontiers of teacher education. It also satisfies the major strategic needs of high-quality teacher preparation and team building of China. In creating a “double first-class university”, Beijing Normal University has put forward the new vision of “building the Mount Qomolangma in teacher education.” Guided by this vision and with a view to achieving the strategic goal of “building a world-class academic institution of teacher education”, CTER adopts a flexible, open and efficient research mechanism, works with researchers of different disciplines and institutions, relies on extensive and in-depth international and domestic academic exchanges, and conducts comprehensive interdisciplinary studies of teachers and teacher education. CTER aims to develop into a leading institution on discipline development of teacher education, a center for teacher education and research, a think tank and social service base for teachers and teacher education policy consultation, a training base of teacher education research and practice-oriented talents, and a center for information exchange and international communication of teachers and teacher education research.
